Apple of My Eye
The theme at The Paper Players this week is Fall, and the cue word at CASology is Apple, so I thought I'd make an apple tree. I swooshed some Distress Inks (Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Barn Door) onto a craft mat, spritzed the inks then dipped and dragged a piece of card through until it was all covered with colour. Once it was dry, I stamped the individual elements onto the piece. Except for the apples. I don't have an apple stamp that size so I drew the apples. Cut everything out, stuck the trunk direct to the card then popped all the leaves and apples up on foam dots. On a separate piece of card I wrote the sentiment then drew dotted lines either side and popped it onto foam.
After the whole card was finished, I decided to add gloss finish to the apples. Luckily I got away without mishaps, but it's becoming a bit of a habit, making changes after I've finished the card. One day it will all go pear-shaped...

ReplyDeleteShirley, this is gorgeous! I love the rich fall colors and how you created the look of your leaves! The little apples are perfect! If I attempted such a thing, I'm afraid the apples would look more like blobs of something unrecognizable! You did great! :)
