Brusho is highly concentrated transparent watercolour powder, and the colour explodes on contact with water giving fun and unpredictable results. (And stained hands. Or anything else it comes into contact with. And for goodness sake, don't cough.)
For this panel, I die cut a Tim Holtz tattered flower from watercolour paper and stuck it down temporarily, sprinkled lemon, leaf green and aquamarine powders, then spritzed, and removed the die cut. Wheee!! I drew in a stalk and leaves and stamped the sentiment.
You can make a wash by mixing the powders with water, but I'm still playing with the exploding properties yet.
I'm entering this into Simon Says Monday Challenge, Anything Goes.
Don't forget, Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge is still open - you can choose any technique from any issue this year so far.
Also, I'm over at STAMPlorations tonight with a feature on generational stamping. See you there!
Great card! Those colors are so vivid and awesome! I'm starting to research watercolors and see with ones are the most vibrant and these qualify :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Shirley. I really like how they didn't bleed under the die cut! I love the explosion of colour - and great tip about not coughing!!! (You made me laugh with that one)
ReplyDeleteDot x
Shirley, you really made me visualise with that 'dont cough'. All I could see in my minds eye was this powder exploding into the air and landing everywhere with colours exploding. I've seen this myself here and there in blog land and thought of buying but I have resisited so farrrrrrr
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing- Shirley- fab colours! thanks for the visualisation with the coughing, lol... I wonder if this Brushos is very much like Edicol Dye that I use to do with the kiddies at school. It also comes in concentrated powder and gets everywhere and stains. May have to get some out and try.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, love the colours, very tempted by brushos, so tempted I went looking for them before I left a comment yesterday....so popped back today. Ruth x
ReplyDeleteWow what a cool effect! u are too good !
ReplyDeleteVery cool new product ... will have to order some :) Heading to STAMPlorations to see what else you've been up to. Loll xx
ReplyDeleteShirley, you are VERY naughty.
ReplyDeleteI love being inspired by your fab cards, and blog, BUT, and it's a BIG BUT, you make me want to spend too much money. No really I love your 'sploshing' and 'splooshing' with water colours, and thank you for sharing what you do.
I am in UK for a few weeks holiday and already have a long list of MUST BUY and WANTED craft items but you have just added to it! Will discretly go shopping on-line while O.H is out or maybe I could shop during the night!
Off to check these items out now.
Love Sheila x
Wow, yes, explosions of glorious colour ... Shirley, this is just fantastic! Brusho ... soooo tempting ... still just about resisting ... for now! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteLove that effect and the brusho's sound cool to play with. Love the reverse flower and the black stem. Striking combination. Thanks for playing along with us at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
