Our topping for this challenge is Inlay Diecuts. You know, diecut shapes, letters, numbers, etc. then either replace them with the same diecut shape in another colour, or patterned paper or paint the diecuts before replacing them, like I did.
Once I'd diecut the rose I removed it, watercoloured it with Distress Inks (what else??) then replaced it before adhering the whole panel onto my base card. The diecut sentiment isn't inlaid. I couldn't face trying to catch all those fiddly bits in the letters, so I just stuck the sentiment on top ;)
Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, then play along with us. If you don't fancy inlay die cutting you can still play along with any birthday-themed creation.
