Lately I've been playing with colouring on kraft, so I thought I'd base my first post around that. I wanted to try different colouring media, so I stamped the cute little giraffe from the Welcome To The Family with Evelin T Designs set several times on kraft card using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then I set to work colouring them.
I stamped the images in an arrangement for cutting, so I'm sorry, you'll have to stand on your head to look at two of them. No wait, you can see them the right way up on the cards they ended up on.
So this is the Sharpie version. I sponged Squeezed Lemonade and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks through the Scenery: Big Bang Circle Creative Screenings stencil, sat the giraffe on a half doily and added the In A Word: Precious Script Cutaway, which I'd coloured with Picked Raspberry. Before adhering the panel to the card base I stamped a border using one of the Scenery: Stripes 2 stamps.
This is the watercoloured version (just regular pan watercolours). I don't often use patterned paper (doesn't stop me from buying it, though!) so I thought I'd make inroads into my paper mountain by using this sweet floral design as a background. The boxes are from Welcome to the Family with Evelin T Designs and the words are from Sentimental: Endearment - I did some selective inking with the 'sweetie' stamp.
This is the Tombow markers version. I used The Big, The Bold and Baby Cutaways to create the 'Baby's' diecut. The apostrophe is the waste from the loop in a 'b' and the 's' is trimmed from 'sweet'. Below the giraffe, 'first' comes from The Big, The Bold and Baby, and 'birthday' comes from The Big, The Bold and The Happy.
For the coloured pencil version, I made a quick and easy card. I sat the giraffe on a kraft The Big, The Bold and The Happy diecut, and stamped birthday in Versamark.
My final card (are you still with me?) uses another layer of my paper mountain. This giraffe was coloured with Distress Markers, and the rusty orange in the background paper sets it off it really well. I cut a cream 'happy' but it looked a bit flat against all the lettering on the background, so I layered it on deep yellow to help it pop. Added a Dymo birthday and it's done.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my first Leading Lady post. And as a reward for sticking with me, Shay has generously given me a $30 Winnie & Walter gift card to give away to one lucky reader. All you have to do is leave a comment on my blog to be in with a chance of winning. And as I'll have five posts, you'll have five opportunities to comment.
I'll see you next Saturday with more Winnie & Walter goodness.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your giraffe cards!!! I appreciated the comparison of coloring mediums on the kraft. I don't think to color on kraft very often, but it is soooooo perfect for the little giraffes!! Hard to choose just one fave, but I really love the one with the yellow floral patterned paper background and also the one that is all kraft. Great use of the dies to make "baby's", too! Each of these cards is so sweet! Thanks so much for sharing. I can't wait to see what you have for us during the rest of the month!!
