Seize The Birthday - No Toppings

It's Seize The Birthday time, and for this challenge there's no topping.  So, anything goes (as long as it's a birthday theme!).

I used Clearly Besotted Fabulous Fuchsias, applying Tombow markers directly to the stamps and spritzing then stamping.  The sentiment is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  Oh, and there's a bit of splattering going on ;)

I'm entering this into Clearly Besotted's challenge - Anything Goes.

Pop on over to Seize The Birthday for inspiration from the rest of the team, and join in!

Stencilled Thanks

Playing along with a few challenges with this card.  First up is Clearly Besotted Challenge #10, Spring

Next up is Virginia's View Challenge #2, Stencil

Then we have Keep It Simple  Challenge #37, Stencil

And finally, Winnie & Walter Join In To Win, where this week's theme is thank you cards.

I stencilled Evergreen Bough and Scattered Straw distress inks through the Cubist stencil on a white card panel, stamped some Dandelion Dreams in Versafine Onyx Black, then stamped 'thanks' so that it crossed the dandelion stems.  I sponged the edges of the base card, then added the panel, and topped it off with a die-cut butterfly stamped with Butterfly Wishes in distress ink.

Stencil: TCW - Cubist
Stamps: Clearly Besotted Dandelion Dreams, Butterfly Wishes; Winnie & Walter The Big The Bold and The You

A Twofer And A Video On Waxing

A couple of cards for you today.  This first one was inspired by Marion's card at Muse:

And by this photo at Winnie & Walter's Playdate No. 1 challenge.  I followed the colours of the clothing and interlocked the hellos to mimic the way that the family is interlocked.  I know the bokeh is part of the frame, but I wanted it to be represented in my card anyway.

I'm also entering it into the current FUSION challenge, where I've just used the sketch:-

Stamps:  Winnie & Walter: The Big The Bold and The Happy; STAMPlorations Vignette Retro Mod Shapes (circle)

And for my next trick, I've made a video for you.  I did a stall at a pop-up cafe in the village yesterday.  I wanted to take some encaustic wax cards to sell but needed to make a new batch.  When I posted some wax cards on my blog at the beginning of the year, some of you had asked for a tutorial, so I thought I may as well video the process while I was making this new batch.  (Don't worry, the video is less than 3 minutes long - I speeded/sped? it up.  Whatever, it's quick.)

The bad news is that there were only 12 customers all morning.  The good news is I sold a wax card and a framed wax picture, and the organiser has asked me to try for the village fair later in the year.

Here's the card that's featured in the video:

I'm entering it into the challenge at Clearly Besotted - In Flight (see the little birds?).  Sentiment from the Fabulous Fuchsias set.
To be honest, I'm in a quandary about this.  I've always thought of wax cards as separate from stamped cards and therefore they don't "fit" into blog challenges.  But are they any different from, say, watercoloured cards or paper-pieced cards or stencilled cards?

Patchwork Birthday

Here's a quick card (well ok a quick post, the card wasn't all that quick to make!) for two challenges:

Clearly Besotted stamp your own background

And Pinspired:

Pretty easy to see where I got my inspiration from. I marked a piece of card into 1.5 inch squares and masked off while I stamped those tiny filler stamps that you tend to ignore.  They're all from the Clearly Besotted Framed Sentiments set, as is the sentiment!

Cut-out Butterflies

This card came about from the meeting of two challenges in my head:

A colour challenge from Clearly Besotted to use some or all of these colours (and at least one Clearly Besotted product).

And this inspiration from Therese for the current Muse challenge:

I love the cutaway idea but wanted to use a different colour palette.  I swiped Distress Inks across the card then cut out the butterfly shapes and affixed the piece to grey card, affixed it to a white card base and added a few sequins.  As an afterthought, I added a small stamped butterfly.

Clearly Besotted: Butterfly Wishes, Framed Sentiments, Butterfly Wishes Die Collection
Distress Inks: Fired Brick, Tattered Rose, Milled Lavender, Bundled Sage and Pumice Stone
Neat & Tangled: Sequins

Golden Butterflies

There are only a few hours left to enter the Seeing Spots challenge at Clearly Besotted:

I've used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch:

And the new challenge at CASology is Gold:

All stamps and dies by Clearly Besotted.  Spotted paper provided by Stephanie of Clearly Besotted as a little thank you when I bought some stamps from her via eBay, before she went global ;)

There are many different shades of gold, so I've got different shades of butterflies, but if that doesn't count, I've also added some pearlised gold bling, again in various shades.

Besotted with Butterflies

There's a new challenge at Clearly Besotted, and as it's the first challenge, the theme is Anything Goes (as long as you use at least one Clearly Besotted product).  There are digi images available on the website if you don't own any stamps yet.  Stephanie is very generously providing a random prize of five Clearly Besotted stamp sets.

I've used the butterflies from Butterfly Wishes, and co-ordinating dies, and sentiments from Framed Sentiments.

I used the colour scheme from Play Date Cafe:

I scribbled some teal and magenta markers onto a craft sheet, spritzed them and then inked the butterfly stamps to get an artsy watercolour effect.
