A Day to Celebrate ... A Leibster Award!

I don't often do sketch challenges, but I quite liked this one at Lawnscaping (nice and CAS):

And I saw this card on Loll's blog, which led me to this colour challenge at The Paper Players:

(I'm also a huge fan of Heather Telford's masking and sponging technique, go and check out her blog.)

The stamps on my card are Hero Arts CL127 Dots and Lines, and CL139 Birthday Messages.

Ardyth of Maskerade was kind enough to nominate me for a Leibster award (thanks again, Ardyth!).  If you don't already know about the award, here's the lowdown.

ABOUT THE AWARD

This award was designed to be a blog award in the pay it forward fashion. Once you've been nominated, you award it to blogs that you like that have fewer than 200 followers, to encourage new visitors to visit these new blogs.

RULES FOR ACCEPTANCE

Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog. Post the award onto your blog. Give the award to five bloggers who you appreciate that have fewer than 200 followers. Leave a comment on their blog letting them know that you have given them this awesome award!

PAY IT FORWARD

Here are the five blogs that I'm nominating.  If you haven't visited these blogs before, go and have a look.  Better still, follow them then you won't miss out.

Do Not Adjust Your Set...

...colour service will be resumed shortly.  It's just that I quite like monochrome at the minute.  This card was originally going to be in colour, and I have several scratch sheets to prove it.  But nothing was turning out like I'd planned, not least because the new clear stamp I was using (from a very very very well known stamp company) has a bubble in it, so I'll have to return it to the shop.  So this is Plan B.  Actually this is Plan B MkII.

This is Plan B MkI but there's a tiny smudge on the 'h' and the 'g'.

For some reason the photos have blurred slightly in the upload.  Just squint, it'll be fine.

The challenge at Less Is More this week is a one layer card featuring foliage.

Vine leaf stamp is by Lavinia Stamps, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black first and third generation (second generation was a bit darker than I wanted).
Sentiment is from Woodware JGS272 The Hedgerow.

Happily Ever After

Once Upon a Time...

There was a challenge blog called CASology, and one day their challenge was to to make a card based on the cue word,

Then along came another challenge called CASual Fridays, and their challenge was,

CFC69: Create a CAS project using embossing.
Dry, heat or a combination of the two, it's completely up to you!

But that's not the end of it - along came another blog called A Blog Named Hero with an embossing challenge:

So what's a girl to do? Enter them all, of course!

And they all lived happily ever after!

ColourQ #152

This is my second post today.  Click here or scroll down for CASE Study.

The challenge at colourQ this week is to use these colours:

I wanted to keep as much white as possible in the design.  It's my second attempt - in the first attempt I had the sentiment bottom-right and three dragonflies at the top, but it didn't look at all balanced.   I coloured the leaf stamp roughly with Tombow so that it was streaky (deliberate, honest!) then dragged the colour around a little bit with a water brush.  The dragonfly is from the same set at the leaf (Hero Arts CL477 Delicate Leaf Clusters) and the sentiment is Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Good Thoughts CMS085.

CASE Yourself

CASE Study are still celebrating their second anniversary.  We've CASEd a design team member, we've CASEd another challenge player, and this week we have to CASE ourselves.  I'm still in London mode so I decided to CASE this one-layer monochromatic card.

This version has three layers, but I've kept the monochromatic theme, this time sepia, and used the same stamp set.  I masked a broad stripe across the panel and dusted Walnut Distress Ink with my Inkylicious duster brushes, then stamped various images onto the masked panel.  Some of the images are first-generation stamped, and some are second or third.  The Routemaster bus was stamped in Walnut Distress Ink and then watercoloured with more Walnut, cut out and mounted onto foam pads.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark Onyx Black.

I'm also entering it into Simon Says Anything Goes.

Stamps: Papermania Urban Stamps - Portobello Road.

Got to dash - hubby's cooking paella and it's nearly ready!

Relax!

Well, she looks pretty relaxed, doesn't she?  The theme at CASology this week is, surprisingly enough,

Susan's card of the girl relaxing in the bath with a glass of wine in her hand reminded me about this stamp.  This girl looks like she's positively enjoying relaxing!  Matching lipstick and shoes, too.  Classy.

The colour scheme at Play Date Cafe this week is

The stamp is called Stella With An Olive On Top from Stamping Bella (jd100) and the sentiment is from It's Only Words by Ladybug Crafts.
