Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?

Are you prepared for the changes that Blogger is making?  Will you be here tomorrow?  Will you still have all of your followers?  You've probably seen the warning notices on other bloggers' posts, but if you haven't, click here to get it from the horse's mouth.  (I think I'm ok, but just to be on the safe side, I've printed out a list of all the blogs I follow as a cross-check.)

Anyway, never mind that, what about today's card?  I'm playing along with CAS(E) This Sketch, and pretty much doing a straight CASE.

I'm also playing along with One Layer Simplicity Challenge, where Heather has set the challenge: The Sky's The Limit

I've used butterflies from my new set, The Bee's Knees Winged Things, and a sentiment from Shery Russ Designs Big Greetings, both of which are being released this week.  Becca and Deepti also have new sets, so stay tuned to STAMPlorations for the Big Release week.

I stamped everything with Versafine Onyx Black, then dropped Distress Inks into the shapes and let them bleed together.  And a bit of splatter.  Of course.

That's it from me today - hope to see you tomorrow :)

The Mixed Media Card Challenge Reminder - Beginnings

Here's a little reminder for The Mixed Media Card Challenge - Beginnings, with an option of Sequins.

I made this a few months ago for a magazine submission but it didn't make the cut.  The background is Distress Paints on mixed media paper, and the butterfly (my interpretation of 'beginning') is white yardstick coloured with Distress Inks.  I added a few sequins, gems and pearls to bling it up.

Fancy playing along with us?  Pop on over to the blog for more inspiration and the linky.

Craft Stamper Take It Make It - Take A Stamp

Welcome to a New Year with Craft Stamper Take It Make It!  We're kicking off 2016 with Take a Stamp (or two, or more).  So, any theme, as long as you've done some actual stamping.

My Tim Holtz Runway girl is taking her pooch for a walk, but it looks like she doesn't want to get her feet wet on the grass - might ruin her shoes!

So, what can you win?  This month's challenge is being sponsored by Dali Art, and here's what one randomly chosen winner will get:

l-r: ribbon, bindi embellishments, self adhesive gems in 2 sizes, Indian butterfly stamp
The winning entry chosen by the Design Team will get their project featured in Craft Stamper magazine, along with a profile feature, and will be invited to guest design in a future challenge.  Cool, eh?

Pop on over to the blog to see some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, ten get creating.

BTW, there's another of my Runway girl cards in the February edition of Craft Stamper (Ready, Set, Stamp), along with a couple of my projects for the Stamping Contrasts feature which is showcasing STAMPlorations Trendy Birds stamp set.  Get hold of your copy now!

A New Species

I've discovered a new species.  Don't be scared, it's made of flowers and it's very friendly.  Just look at that smile ;)

You can spot which images I used from this set, and see the full process over on the STAMPlorations blog.

The Bee's Knees - Folk Flowers
I'm entering this into Simon Says Monday Challenge - Something New and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Something New.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #54 - Happy New Year

It's the first of our STAMPlorations Inspiration series in 2016, and this year we're doing it a little differently. Check on the STAMPlorations blog post for the changes, and how you can be in with a chance of winning a $10 gift certificate to the store.

I made this card on New Year's Day after watching all the fireworks around the world.  I stamped and masked the house (The Bee's Knees Houses) then added the grass and sentiment (Holiday Artsy), the coloured explosions (Mixed Media Elements) and the Catherine wheels (Balloons and Banners).  I sponged the dark sky around the house, fading out towards the fireworks to represent the bright white flashes.

Did you know the Catherine wheel is named after Catherine of Alexandria who was condemned to death on the wheel - according to legend it exploded when she touched it.  See?  Not only entertaining but educational as well ;)

Pop on over to the STAMPlorations blog for some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, and don't forget to comment to be in with a chance of a prize.

The Mixed Media Card Challenge - Beginnings

Don't fall off your chair - I made a shaker card!  (I admire all of you who make shaker cards, and I think they're beautiful, but I may never make another one... way outside my comfort zone.  Requires precision.)

We've got our first challenge of 2016 over at The Mixed Media Card Challenge and appropriately enough, it's Beginnings.  With a side of sequins.

I've made a baby card - babies definitely qualify as beginnings!

The shaker frame is cut from pink rose glitter card, which coordinates with a Gelli-plate panel I made using red and white acrylic paints.  A layer of acetate, some sequins, foam tape, you know the drill.  Some washi tape, a stamped card base (STAMPlorations Heaven Sent), a touch of Distress Ink watercolouring on the rocking horse, and it's done.  I like how the black and white of the card base contrasts against the pink panels.

So what does Beginnings mean for you?  Check out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the design team here and then add your mixed media card creation to the gallery.

CASEplorations with Laura Bassen

It's a New Year and a new challenge from CASEplorations!  This month we've got the one and only Laura Bassen as our muse, and this is Laura's card that we're CASEing:

Laura's card
You can find Laura's original post here.

I loved the sherbet-y shades that Laura made by mixing Distress Inks into modelling paste, but I didn't want to use paste today, so I just stencilled Distress Inks through my ARTplorations Tribal Triangles stencil, then flicked some water over the inks.  I also sprayed Goosebumps over the panel - first time I've used the stuff.

We've changed the ground rules a little bit for CASEplorations.  Rather than having a general CASE playground, it's now specifically for CASEing the guest designer's featured card.  The prizes have changed too.  Click here to find out what you could win by joining in!
